What does a creative person do in times of sorrow? Create! I had seen something in my son's school folder that brought the movie Up to mind. Incidentally, the quote "Squirrel" from the movie is something I am constantly reminded of, but anyway, where was I? Yes, the old man in the movie had a lot in common with Pop, who went home to be with the Lord yesterday afternoon. He was a widower who was madly in love with the wife that predeceased him. A love story second to The Notebook, really. I instantly became inspired to do a typographic illustration inspired by Up. I cheated a little and created outlines for some of the type but not too much. The Bible says "If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also" in John 14:3. Pop is in heaven now with God and with his wife and I find great comfort and actually, joy in that.
